Minnesota Vikings News
Looking for Minnesota Vikings news? How about information on how to bet on Super Bowl 2021? Minnesota Vikings kicker Dan Bailey has been a reliable kicker for most of his 10-year career. Mostly. Unfortunately, the veteran kicker wasn’t very reliable on Sunday, missing four kicks, including three field goals.
After the game, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said he wasn’t happy with Bailey’s performance. However, also expressed confidence in his kicker.
“I’m really disappointed,” Zimmer told reporters. “I have a lot of faith in him. Have a lot of confidence in him. But these last two weeks have not been good.”
A week ago, Bailey was the hero for the Vikings after making the game-winning 23-yard field goal in overtime. However, the team wouldn’t have had to go to overtime if Bailey hadn’t missed two extra points and a field goal. The circle of life.
Despite Zimmer expressing confidence in Bailey, he hasn’t been reliable of late. Making field foals he would usually make. Bailey couldn’t connect on kicks from 36, 54 and 46 yards out, while also missing the mark on a PAT, leaving him scoreless for the day.

If Zimmer is to be taken at his word, releasing Bailey won’t be an emotional decision.
“At this point in time we’re not really worried about feelings anymore,” Zimmer said.
With their loss to the Buccaneers, the Vikings are now 6-7, one game behind the Arizona Cardinals, who are in the seventh playoff spot in the NFC standings. Even though Zimmer came to his kicker’s defense, it will be interesting to see how long he remains committed to Bailey if he continues to miss kicks.
“If you guys want me to fire guys for making a mistake here or there, we wouldn’t have any players,” Zimmer said. “Let’s not put this all on Dan Bailey.”
