San Francisco 49ers Lose Jimmy Garoppolo For Season
Things went from bad to worse for Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers. After leading the San Francisco 49ers to a 5-0 record at the end of last season, there was plenty of hope in the Bay Area with some fans even thinking about a Super Bowl run. Three games into the season, the 49ers have a better chance of getting the number one overall pick in next year’s draft than making the playoffs after Garoppolo went down with an injury late in their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters after the game that the team feared Garoppolo injured his ACL and he is expected to miss the rest of the season. The coach added that the team will know more after Garoppolo undergoes more tests on Monday.
“Anytime you lose your starting quarterback, that is a big deal,” Shanahan said. “It was when we lost our starting running back [Jerick McKinnon] too. So obviously, I feel for him personally. I know how disappointed he is. I haven’t got a chance to see him yet. I feel for him.”

Jimmy Garoppolo injured his knee on a scramble while attempting to pick up a first down. The quarterback scrambled 13 yards and had the option of stepping out of bounds, but he stayed in bounds and took a hit from Chiefs cornerback Steven Nelson.
“That was, I think, that was his fault,” Houston said. “I pray he’s not hurt and it’s nothing serious, but as a quarterback, you should step out of bounds. It’s only an inch. An inch [gained] wouldn’t have made a difference. You got the yardage you need, you step out of bounds. You’ve got to be smart, think about your team.”
With Jimmy Garoppolo out, the San Francisco 49ers will turn to C.J. Beathard, who led the team to their first win of the 2017 season as a rookie.
“I have got a lot of confidence in C.J.,” Shanahan said. “He came in today, made a helluva throw on that fourth down. No hesitation. C.J. is a gamer. Everyone in here has a ton of respect for C.J., how he handles himself. He’s a man out there, and he’s a very good quarterback, and we’re fortunate to have him.”
In conclusion, the San Franscisco 49ers will miss the playoffs.
