New Orleans Saints Sign Brandon Marshall
NFL Week 11 is here! Dez Bryan is out. Brandon Marshall is in. The New Orleans Saints have been trying to add some depth to their wide receiver position. This is as they push for the top seed in the NFC playoff race. On Monday, the team announced they have reached an agreement with six-time Pro Bowler Brandon Marshall. Marshall was released by the Seattle Seahawks earlier this season.
Brandon had worked out for the Saints last week. However, the team decided to sign former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, who had been unsigned since he was released by the Cowboys during the offseason.
Bryant never got to play a down for the Saints as he suffered a torn Achilles during practice and won’t be able to play again for some time.
The Saints will be the 34-year-old Marshall’s fourth team in two years and the seventh team he has played for in his 13-year career. In seven games with the Seahawks, Marshall caught 11 passes for 136 yards and one touchdown. Last year, he had 18 catches for 154 yards in five games with the New York Giants.
Saints Betting Odds
The Saints aren’t expecting Marshall to have a big impact on their offense, but having him gives them a receiver they can play in the slot and a big target for Drew Brees in the red zone, which was the role they were expecting Bryant to play before he suffered his injury.
New Orleans hasn’t had a lot of luck with receivers this season with Ted Ginn Jr. Cameron Meredith, and Bryant being put on the injured reserve list over the past month. They are hoping their luck will change with Marshall and they will be able to get some production out of him.
Despite their lack of depth at the receiver position, their offense just keeps humming along. The Saints scored 51 points on the road against the Bengals, a week after scoring 45 points against the Los Angeles Rams.
